Through their coursework, internships, and collaborations, students in the Urban Studio have contributed to and worked with prominent Detroit institutions such as the Detroit Historical Society, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MOCAD), and The Henry Ford. Whether it’s developing an app for the M-1 Rail System, creating a digital archive of Detroit’s past, or creating an art installation for public display, students in the Urban Studio learn while connecting to, engaging with, and immersing themselves in the cultures and communities of Detroit.

For the 2017 Urban Studio, we’ve partnered with Detroit City Football Club, a grassroots organization committed social justice and the City of Detroit. In order to contribute to the larger Detroit ‘67 Project, students in the Urban Studio will draw on their liberal arts knowledge while working with the DCFC owners, fans, staff, as well as others in the Detroit community, to propose, design, and enact a “Detroit ‘67 Night” at Keyworth Stadium on August 2nd.
